The Flying Acrobats

My friend, Cheryl, and I had the day off yesterday and so after a day of relaxation and blogging, we decided to go to a Chinese Arobatic Show and dinner. It was simply AMAZING!!!! Talk about balance, strength, and artistry. We were thrilled and in awe the entire time. Most of the acts were totally new and mind blowing for me. I was especially impressed by the trio of strong men. It was incredible how flexible and strong they were. They weren't particularly bulky, but lean and powerful.

The show's theme was mainly about birds, but dealt with the respect they have for the sun. Birds represent freedom and the Sun respresents warmth and ??? (I think it was blessings. My mind isn't what it used to be. Yikes!)

With my ticket, I was given a very nice program which I will take home and share. I'm glad that we were able to see a show.

After the show we went to dinner at this place called Morel's. We had been there before and absolutely loved the steamed mussels. This is the first time that I have ever eaten them without eating any grit. They were so tasty that Cheryl and I decided to go there again. It was an adventure getting there. As we left the theater, it was pour rain, we're taking cats and dogs. Thank goodness we both brought umbrellas. Hailing a taxi in the rain is no fun, but we managed to get one. It was a bit of a struggle to get the taxi driver to understand where we wanted to go, so we asked our friend Jason, a volunteer, to translate for us. Since he didn't know how to say Morel's in Chinese, he gave the driver directions to a place across the street. When we got to the place we asked the driver to drop us off on the other side of the street, but he didn't understand and so he just stopped and let us out. We had to cross the street that by this time was a flowing river. I can't remember the last time my shoes got completely drenched. The water was ankle deep. We finally made it to the restaurant and sat down for some delicious mussels. It was definitely worth it. By the time we finished dinner, the rain had stopped. We walked home and I was thankful when I could take my wet shoes and socks off.
