I'm A Blue Smurf

Right after arriving in Whistler, I went to try on my uniform. This pile of clothes are what I wear to work everyday. These two gentlemen were very nice and helpful. They said that I should say hi to my students in San Jose, CA.

I also had to get my accreditation before receiving my uniform. I have my accreditation with me always. It gets me into work and free transportation during the Games.

If you've been watching the Olympic coverage, no doubt you have seen the workforce dressed in the teal/aqua blue uniforms. They are really nice and since I seldom go to the snow, I'll most likely never have to buy clothing for snow. They are of good quality and look nice.

I've hear some Canadians call us blue smurfs. I like them and would definitely use them especially the waterproof jacket. Some of the volunteers have said that they would never wear them again. I will wear it to school when it's raining.

We received a jacket, vest, two long-sleeved shirts, and snow pants. I also purchased a nice backpack that matches the uniform.

Because we all have the same uniforms, I mistakenly took my roommates jacket one day and thought that someone had mistakenly taken mine. I'm just glad that I didn't lose mine jacket. I'm much more careful about looking for my name on the tag.

Another perk we get for volunteering are little gifts every 3 days we work. I've received a workforce pin for the Vancouver Games and Miga the Sea Bear stuffed animal. I will receive two more gifts by the end of my stay here. I am halfway through my shifts for the Games.

Hey, Blue Smurf,
Your students are going to love this! How did you find this job anyway? I am anxious to read what your jobs are there. I haven't gotten to that part yet.
Aloha,
Judy
