Well, unfortunately I've brought Nor Cal weather with me. It's beautiful when it is a clear day, but I feel sorry for the Vancouver Olympic Committee. One thing they cannot control is Mother Nature. It's been in the low 40's. The weather has been cooperating for the ski jumping events. The first 3 days I worked at the ski jumping event, it was clear and sunny with very little wind. As soon as the last athlete jumped, the clouds appeared and it began raining and in some cases it was rain and snow flurries. I was glad that the conditions were perfect for a fair competition.
The temperatures are so much warmer than anyone expected. Everyone of my volunteer friends who have come from out of town, has said that they have brought things that are too warm to wear. I guess that better safe than sorry. There is only about 3-5 degrees difference between day and night temperatures. It's been pleasant to walk around a night in the Whistler Olympic Village. This morning I was able to leave the house wearing a long-sleeved shirt and a fleece vest.
Tomorrow is my first day off and it's supposed to be raining until 3pm. I plan to sleep in, watch Olympic coverage, blog, and walk around the Olympic Village.
